Ingredients

Cake Ingredients:
▢ 1 cup Coca-Cola (not diet)
▢ 1/2 cup cooking oil
▢ 1 stick unsalted butter
▢ 3 Tbsp cocoa
▢ 2 cups white sugar
▢ 2 cups all-purpose flour
▢ 1/2 tsp salt
▢ 2 eggs
▢ 1/2 cup buttermilk
▢ 1 tsp baking soda
▢ 1 tsp vanilla

Frosting Ingredients:
▢ 1 stick butter
▢ 2 1/3 Tbsp cocoa (sift before using)
▢ 6 Tbsp heavy cream (or milk)
▢ 1 tsp vanilla
▢ 3 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar (sifted)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Wet Mixture: In a medium saucepan, mix Coca-Cola, oil, butter, and cocoa. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then remove from heat. This forms your rich, chocolatey base.

  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, and salt.

  • Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Pour the hot Coca-Cola mixture over the dry ingredients. Using a small electric hand mixer, beat until well combined.

  • Add Remaining Ingredients: Beat in eggs, buttermilk, baking soda, and vanilla until the batter is smooth and creamy.

  • Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into a greased and floured 13×9-inch baking pan. Bake at 350°F for 25–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
