- 2 pounds lean ground beef (90% lean)
- 1 (1 oz) envelope dry onion soup mix
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- ¼ cup milk
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons dried parsley
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 (1 oz) packet dry au jus mix
- 2 (10.75 oz) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
- ¾ cup water
- ½ white onion, sliced
- 1½ cups whole mini shiitake or sliced regular mushrooms
Instructions
- Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, onion soup mix, breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, parsley, and milk. Mix gently until just combined.
- Form and Coat Patties: Shape the meat mixture into uniform patties, then coat each side with flour, patting gently to remove excess.
- Brown the Patties: Heat oil in a large skillet and brown the patties in batches until golden on both sides.
- Layer in Slow Cooker: Transfer browned patties to the slow cooker and top with sliced onions and mushrooms.
- Prepare the Gravy: Whisk together condensed soup, au jus mix, and water until completely smooth.
- Combine and Cook: Pour the gravy mixture evenly over the meat and vegetables. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours.
